The Formula 4x4 Big Bore shocks are paired with King Springs front coils and SuperPro strut mounts, assembled into height adjustable ReadyStruts and matched to your front load, and raised King Springs rear coils matched to your rear load. See every part in the What's in the kit tab.
Why Formula 4x4 Big Bore shocks
- Made for heavier 4WDs. The Big Bore range is designed for larger 4WDs like the LandCruiser, built with comfort in mind and tested to handle Australian conditions.
- More oil, better cooling. A 70mm outer tube gives higher oil capacity and better heat dissipation, with high temperature Fuchs oil and seals.
- Strong internals. A 40mm sintered metal piston with a Teflon coating, a heat-treated, polished piston rod and a 1.5mm wall inner tube.
- Tuned for your vehicle. Application-specific piston types (progressive, linear or digressive) to suit each vehicle.
- Built to last. An anti-corrosion finish, robotically welded seams, NOK oil seals and SuperPro bushings.
ReadyStrut front end
The front comes as a pair of Formula height adjustable ReadyStruts: the front shock, a King Springs coil matched to your front load (no bar, alloy bar, or steel bar with or without a winch) and SuperPro strut mounts, assembled ready to fit.
Height-adjustable front struts
The Formula 4x4 Big Bore 80611 front struts have a 3-position spring seat. A circlip locates the seat in one of three grooves on the strut body, and a 6061 aluminium spring seat with a locking bolt holds the setting. The lowest groove matches the factory (OEM) spring height.
It gives you a way to trim the front ride height if your accessory load changes over time, for example if you add a bull bar or winch later.
Adjusting the height is a workshop job. The strut has to be removed and the front end disassembled, so have it done by a suspension professional, followed by a wheel alignment.
Ride, handling and load
- Matched to your load. The springs create the lift, so choose your front load, engine type and rear load when you build your kit. Getting this right gives a level stance and a comfortable ride, and stops the rear sagging.
- Accessories first. Where possible, fit permanent accessories like bars, winches, drawers and canopies before the lift kit so the suspension is matched correctly from the start.
- Professional fitting. We recommend installation by a suspension technician or mechanic, preferably with wheel alignment facilities.
Who it suits
